ACRO CLASS SCHEDULE

 Level 1-3 ................................  Wednesday @ 5:15 p.m. 

Level 3-5 ...............................  Wednesday @ 7:30 p.m.

Level 6 - PP3 ......................... Tuesday @ 9:00 p.m.

Acro dance is an excellent training supplement for dancers who want to increase their strength, flexibility and balance. Dancers will follow thoughtful progressions to develop their acrobatic skills in a safe and effective manner. Our acro dance classes follow the Acrobatic Arts syllabus. Please note that dancers must be enrolled in a jazz, lyrical, hip hop or ballet class in order to enrol in this program.


* Acro dancers are place based on ability, rather than age. Please see the chart below for prerequisite skills.

* Acro dance is a supplementary class at CDC. Dancers must be registered in a jazz, ballet, lyrical, or hip hop class to participate.

ACROBATIC ARTS CERTIFIED

Our acro dance classes follow the world-renowned Acrobatic Arts Syllabus. Each of our acrobatics coaches is Acrobatic Arts Certified.

PREREQUISITE SKILLS

LEVEL 1/2

  • Plank

  • Baby Bridge

  • Somersault

  • Pre-Cartwheel 

  • Pike Stretch

  • Balance on one foot

LEVEL 3-5

  • Bridge with shoulders past wrists

  • Bridge retire

  • Bridge waving

  • Down to bridge (minimal spot)

  • Teddy Bear Stand

  • Cartwheel R and L

  • Straight handstand (with spot)

  • All splits 6" or less from floor

LEVEL 6 - PP3

  • Back walkover

  • Front walkover

  • 8-count bridge and recover

  • Flying cartwheel

  • Leg hold 

  • All splits 2" or less from floor

  • Chest stand

  • Straight headstand
